United Church in Walpole - Night at Breaking Bread
Monday, February 6
Breaking Bread is a weekly community meal program in Walpole, free of charge and open to all who are looking for a wholesome dinner and welcoming fellowship. It is sponsored by an ecumenical group of area congregations called Families of Faith. The meal is offered every Monday evening from 5:30 to 6:30 PM in Bradford Lewis Hall, right here at United Church in Walpole (UCW). Since September 2010, many people have worked together to make these weekly meals happen.
On Monday, February 6, you will have an opportunity to join in this experience with a United Church sponsored night at Breaking Bread!
We will need:
A few people to make desserts at home, enough for 60 guests.
3 people to help with food preparation at the church, starting around 4 PM.
4 or 5 people at 4:30 PM to set up tables, preparing to welcome and serve the guests.
4 or 5 people to come at 5:30 to help serve the meal and stay until about 7 PM to complete the clean-up.
If you would like to help with the UCW night at Breaking Bread on February 6th, speak to Lois Czachorowski or Julie Bushway or call the church office at 508-668-0551.

Food is essential for human life. All people need to eat. Every day. The Bible is filled with stories that speak of God revealed through the ordinary act of feeding and eating. Think of Moses leading the people through the desert, God providing a sweet bread and quail for everyone to eat. Every day. Think of Jesus feeding 5,000 people with a loaf of bread and two fish or simply sitting with people on many occasions—the tax collector, the disciples, at the Last Supper—sharing fellowship and food, and providing the nourishment we all need, physical and spiritual. The Bible’s feeding stories tell us over and over again of a loving, caring God who gives us life and sustains us with food. And God is still speaking!
