On February 9 th, Bradford Lewis Hall was filled with the sounds of live jazz, the smell of Jambalaya, and the sight of gold, green and purple everywhere, as our Sr. Pursuit youth group’s Annual Bidding Bakeoff Bonanza went to Mardi Gras!
This 7 th edition of the Bonanza, which is Pursuit’s only fundraiser in support of its annual mission trip, was an outstanding success. The Bakeoff drew many entries in the categories of jambalaya, cake, pie, chocolate, and just-by-kids, all of which were eagerly consumed once the judging results were announced.
The Auction’s long list of goods and services, donated by the youth and many other members of the congregation, included yard work, babysitting, lift tickets, artwork, custom cooking, getaways to the Cape and to Maine, tutoring, and Red Sox tickets. The enthusiastic bidding was led by our outstanding auctioneers Brad Parsons, Mark Annati, and Rick Murphy.
Mark performed double duty that evening, as he is also the drummer for Wildewood Jazz, a talented quartet who generously donated their musicianship to give the evening a true, live New Orleans sound.
Sr. Pursuit is very grateful to everyone who came, cooked, judged, performed, donated, bid, and helped with clean-up. This was our most successful Bonanza, raising $6,830 to offset the costs of our mission trip to Kentucky this summer. We hope you enjoy these photos.
