“Youth in Pursuit”

Programs for youth in Grades 6-8 and Grades 9-12

Two youth groups, each with average attendance of 15 young people, and a team of lay leaders, meet regularly to engage in fellowship and fun, worship, and service.

• Jr. Pursuit welcomes youth in Grades 6-8 and meets the second and fourth Sundays of the month from 5:30 to 7:00.
• Sr. Pursuit welcomes youth in Grades 9-12 and meets every Sunday evening from 7:00 to 8:30.

Highlights of 2007-08 Senior Pursuit:

• A new year! - Adding handprints to Pursuit Banner and signing the Sr. Pursuit Covenant.  See the “Preamble of Pursuit- POP”
• Project Adventure- a team building  event
• SPAM nights (soda, pizza, and a movie)
• Reverse Advent, a youth led Good Friday service of contemporary music
• 30 Hour Famine to benefit World Vision
• Youth Sunday, a youth led worship service
• Bidding Bake-off Bonanza- a yearly event to raise funds for mission trip.  See Recent Special Events for pictures of 2008 Mardi Gras Bonanza.
• An annual mission trip. In 2008, Sr. Pursuit plans to go to Kentucky.  They will be working  at Haven of Rest, a facility in Martin County that houses and counsels families of prison inmates.  The group will then go to Mammoth Caves to assist in park maintenance and to try their hand at spelunking. Here our Youth in Pursuit gather after their 30 hour fast to consider and show concern for those who go hungry around the world.  Parents provided a pot luck supper promptly after the 30 hours to break the fast.
