Welcome!

            "Worship, Teach and Serve"

Confirmation

Young people of United Church are guided in a process of faith formation throughout their childhood by the intentional teaching of parents and congregation, worship and Christian witness of the church, and the work of the Holy Spirit.

As part of the Journey to Adulthood, the second half of Grade 9 is devoted to a program of preparation for Confirmation, led by the pastor and lay leaders of the church. Based on "Affirming Faith", a United Church of Christ curriculum, this program contains units on: Our History and Heritage, God, Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, the Church, and God’s Gifts and Our Response.  The Confirmation program is also enriched by numerous opportunities to participate in retreats and mission projects.

In Grade 10, having completed their J2A and Confirmation classes, the young people are prepared  to “confirm” what was said for them at their baptism.  Confirmation is seen not as a graduation or an “exit ritual”, but rather a chance to stand before the community of faith and make public declaration of an understanding of the journey of faith and a desire to continue along the journey as full members of the Body of Christ.

The next Rite of confirmation is scheduled for September 28, 2008 during the 10:00 AM worship.
